Some Facets of the Inside Out

Song of an Astonished Peg

I thought it right to chant before I looked
Then after, took up whistle, wailed a bit.
I didn't want to look…but did
Then felt the SHOCK of what I saw.
John Sharkey had already gone
And Left behind
A body/blue stone—
A laid out menhir—
Ready to change zones
Into that fire
Through which John had long gone.

Once someone was there
Now truncated to stone;
For the blue-hearted shaman
Was already at ONE
With his circle of wise friends
Inside the unknown.

So John used that body
To bring stones to life;
But his soul has no name
As his Spirit was life,
The body was not his
And he knew that right through
For that shape dressed in wicker
Revealed what he knew.
